I have a crazy amount of work on my plate already but when I read on Katy Jones' blog that she's decided to host a quilt-along, I just couldn't resist. I've never met her but I happened across her blog a few months back and I haven't stopped thinking about how cool she is since. Her work is just beautiful and I'm still not sure how she gets so much done every day.

Anyway, I figure this would be the perfect opportunity to use some of the amazing new fabrics that have been arriving on my doorstep lately and make a quilt that I might actually get to keep. I've decided on Liberty Lifestyle Bloomsbury Garden mixed with Ann Kelle Remix chevron (which I'm using in everything lately).

I haven't done a quilt-along before but so far, it's been a really positive experience. It's great to get feedback and input from the other participants and it's really interesting to see how one pattern can look so very different depending on what fabrics are used.

The pattern for this particular quilt-along is 'Spinning Stars' by Anna Maria Horner. It's a free downloadable PDF pattern. The best part is that it looks really complicated but it's actually quite straightforward. Lots of cutting? Yes. But other than that, I've been finding it quite smooth to piece together. Here's where I'm at so far.

Chop chop.

Rough pinned 4 blocks together just to see how they're going to look.
